In The Days Of My Youth...

How many hours were spent on a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood?

(I posted this earlier and some have commented about model trains on the slot car thread below )

  1. Wow! That was pretty impressive for HO. I had a similar setup, but it was N gauge. A 4x8 sheet of plywood was like Rhode Island for those things!

...Poor RI... It's license plate should read "America's Yardstick."

  4. My Dad made my brother and I a winter scene for Xmas out of Lionel trains. Never forget it, I was about 8 - for an 8 year old it was like magic.

    1. You could create your own world.

      Mine was Jersey City, 1940.

  7. And what about the Cox "U-line" controlled planes? They were great until they crashed! Seems they were made of a plastic that nothing could glue! My dad handed me a Cox plane on steroids one day; a balsa and paper "Ringmaster" with a Fox .35 engine on it. The U-line was 65 feet from hand to plane! I still have scars on my fingers from when the engine would backfire while I was trying to start it, and that nylon prop would go right to the bone! The memories are just as permanent though!

Kids these days... They know nothing about "actual reality." Childhood before computers was a HOOT!
